Dont some cities already require this type of nutrition disclosure?
No. A handful of cities have adopted ordinances requiring disclosure of some nutrients, but the mandates on restaurants are inconsistent and confusing to consumers. Providing nutrition information on a city-by-city or state-by-state basis creates a patchwork quilt of confusing and contradictory local regulation that does not provide consumers with the detailed nutrition information they seek. A uniform, national standard for nutrition disclosure will offer consumers convenient access to detailed nutrition information when they want it, and allow chain food service establishments needed flexibility to communicate it in a manner consistent with their guests dining preferences.
