Don’t gunite pools crack in Vermont?

0

We have built over 300 pools in Vermont. Water is left in the pool to freeze and equalize the pressure of frost pushing from the outside. Gunite pools require at least 4 feet of compacted earth on all sides of the pool to help equalize the pressure of freezing water inside the pool. In 30+ years of building, we have had only one pool crack and that is because the substrate (material under pool) was not properly compacted to hold weight of pool and water.
