• Yes. Unlike prosecutors, criminal defense lawyers are not “ministers of justice.” They are obligated to act in the best interest of their clients, those accused and convicted of crimes, including capital crimes. The status quo is working well for guilty criminals sentenced to death, because they are able to forestall execution indefinitely. SJR 14 will change that.
