Doesnt the Sneads Ferry community already have a voice?
A- For all practical purposes, no one knows we exist except when it becomes time to vote. Sneads Ferry has no representation on the county level. Candidates are voted in by the big numbers in Jacksonville. Historically, our board of county commissioners have always worked very hard to keep Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville happy and ignored Sneads Ferrys needs. After incorporation, Sneads Ferry can introduce itself to federal, state, and county officials as a unified voice speaking out on issues that concern Sneads Ferry. Incorporated cities and towns are like small countries and their sovereign powers are recognized by higher government.
