Doesn’t the Flying Slig in the opening movie of Abe’s Exoddus have vibrating wings?
Yes, he does. In fact, the smell he mentions in the movie is actually burning lubricant from his equipment. Shortly after he leaves the screen his wings seize up and he crashes in a spectacular fireball just off-screen. The propeller flying harness model seen throughout the rest of the game quickly replaced the winged model not because of a greater safety track record, but because it was found to be cheaper to maintain.
