Doesn’t the Clean Air Act ensure acceptable pollution levels?
The Clean Air Act has been an effective tool at helping us to clean up air pollution, but it only works if it is enforced. America has been slowly moving toward cleaner air for the past 30 years. But now, the efforts of the Administration are on the verge of fatally undermining the Clean Air Act with a misleading initiative called Clear Skies and with efforts to roll back other parts of the Act with changes to regulations that gut other protective provisions of the Act. Rather than clearing the skies, this bill would effectively increase air pollution by stretching out and weakening industry requirements. The American Lung Association has taken the EPA to court over the changes to the regulations, and the court agreed that these rollbacks should be stopped pending the legal review.
