Doesn the body need carbohydrates or fats?

0

As with all things, moderation is key, even when it comes to carbohydrates and fats. You need carbs for fast-burning energy and you need fat to help regulate hormones and give you energy stores.

Too many carbs can make you pack on the weight and too much fat can cause issues with your heart, diabetes, and other health concerns.

Your body needs fat and carbohydrates to sustain itself and process the energy to exercise and other activities, so having a little fat in your system is especially healthy.

Polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats are two of the particularly good fats you’ll find in foods like avocado that are good for reducing the risk of heart disease and other maladies.

Absolutely. The body requires a balanced ratio of all three macronutrients: proteins, carbohydrates and fats. However, there are different types and grades of fats, proteins and carboydrates which you should be aware of when selecting foods to eat. For examples, some fats are better than others, which include those primarily made of polyunsatured and monounsatured fats. These fats include flax oil, hemp seed oil, borage oil, olive oil, etc. Carbohydrates are also available in different “grades” and are measured according to the Glycemic Index (GI). The GI ranks carbohydrates according to the rate at which they are broken down into glucose by the body. As a general rule, carbohydrates with a relatively low GI, such as brown rice or raw vegetables, are a better energy source than carbohydates with a hgh GI, such as simple sugars.
