Doesnt film fill clog?
There are many different film fills available and some are more prone to fouling than others. The corrugation size of film fill has a large influence on whether the fill will trap debris or become a home for biological colonies. A common size film fill found in air conditioning towers is a inch corrugation. Most new towers are built with a film fill having inch corrugation. We have found both of these can foul, especially in poor water quality conditions such as where untreated make-up water is used or where there are possible hydrocarbons exchanger leaks such as in refineries. We use a film fill with a 1 inch or 1 inch corrugation that was originally designed for use in sewage treatment plants. Its wide open corrugations provide clean operation in refineries as well as fertilizer plants. Some installations are over 10 years old.
