Doesn’t Excel limit the number of rows per file or length of each text verbatim cell?

Excel 2003 limits the number of rows per file to about 65,000 but does allow for very large amounts of text per cell. Older versions of Excel have further limitations on the length of each text verbatim field to 256 characters. Excel 2007 (XLSX files) has no such limits.
