Does yoga require children to have an aptitude for physical activity or sport?
Absolutely not. The wonderful thing about yoga compared to other physical activities is that it is completely non-competitive and all-inclusive. For example, children with additional needs like Autism or Asperger’s syndrome may lack the physical ability and coordination skills to play football or catch, but their low muscle tone makes incredibly flexible and yoga allows them to engage in exercise with their friends without any physical restrictions. It is also extremely effective in reducing stiffness and resistance caused by high muscle tone in children living with Cerebral Palsy.
