Does Xbox Live work with AOL Broadband?
(Last updated: 09/15/2002) Back to top Not without some work on your part. Here is a great answer provided by an employee of Time Warner Cable: Most likely anyone using AOL broadband over cable WILL have a problem connecting to Xbox Live. One of AOL’s much advertised “features” is its ability to give parents some limited control over whether their children can access the internet, and to also control what they see there, once they’re online. AOL’s software enforces this by requiring a screen name and password to get online. You must do this BEFORE you will see any online content. Most kids get around this somewhat by signing onto AOL and then simply minimizing that and opening Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc. While both Road Runner and AOL High-Speed cable do use the same cables lines and same cable modems, there are differences in how they are configured by the cable company ISP. I currently work for Time Warner Cable and I deal with these AOL connectivity issues on a daily basis. Ro
