Does Word Ventures edit or proofread student work?
No, we don’t. If we notice a gross problem with the work of a younger studentsuch as being typed in all caps, having four blank lines between paragraphs, or some other such thingwe will notify the sponsor. However, in general, we do not edit or proofread student work. There are multiple reasons for this. First, there are almost always mistakes in even the books of bestselling authors, so trying to make a book of student writing “perfect” would be an exercise of futility. Second, what we consider a “mistake” may not be considered so by the student author, parent, or sponsor. There is often more than one way to punctuate a given sentence, and word choice is, by definition, a “choice”. Finally, mistakes by younger students are often what makes their writing so endearing, and enjoyable in future years.
