Does windows xp support sata hard drives?

XP has very poor native support for SATA drives. To be used, one must either put in a floppy with the controller driver in, or slipstream the driver into the installation CD. XP does “support” them, though, in that they can be used with the correct drivers. @MK Chicago: Yes, you need drivers for the SATA controller on your motherboard. You are obviously an incompetent idiot who has never installed an operating system before. OEM manufacturers like Dell or HP slipstream drivers into their installation CDs. That is why they can use SATA out of the box. It’s pretty damn hard for an operating system to support a device if it doesn’t support the bus it connects to.
