Vista does use the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Check. From the Microsoft FAQs: Q: Do all Office users need to validate, or is validation limited to particular versions of Office? A: No. For users of Office XP or later versions, validation is only required to access downloads from the Microsoft Download Center that are reserved for genuine users and other special offers. For users of earlier versions of Office, validation is not required. http://www.microsoft.
