Does Wayne Gretzky speak Polish?

Just noticed a site that says Gretzky is of Polish descent. Weird, considering Poles usually write their names with -“ski” spelling if they have such an ending. The “zky” ending seems more like Ukrainian or Bielorussian. Anyone know for sure if Gretzky is Polish or another Slavic background? I’m doing a report on Polish Canadians…need a reference is possible. Thanks.
