VMware is supported only on host processors and host operating systems running in 32-bit mode; processors and operating systems running in 64-bit mode are not supported. VMware is considering supporting 64-bit machines for future versions, but this is still under technical review at this time. Update (2006-NOV-17): ESX Server 3.0.1 introduced support for selected 64-bit guest operating systems.
