Does VIP Utility or AvLab replace traditional signature based scanner?
No, VIP Utility or AvLab is targeted for diagnosing new viruses and malware before signature gets updated. They generate signature automatically once they detect new virus or malware. Traditional scanner are installed either on gateway, server, or workstation, VIP Utility is typically installed on an isolated computer, and AvLab is installed in an isolated network. Current version of VIP Utility and AVLab can only handle Win32 based malwares. Future version will expand its coverage.
