Does Vermont have a grace period for returning vehicles to dealerships?
Well there is no grace period, but your situation doesn’t apply to a grace period. You didn’t sign the contract yet, so you don’t own the car. You can take it back, they will give you hell about it, and probably charge you for the day and miles of which you were driving it. But after a lengthy argument with the dealer, they really have nothing holding you to the car. you will lose any money you gave them and they may have already ripped the stickers off your car. it’s not gonna be easy, but possible to get out of this at this point. Dont’ delay, do it as soon as possible.
You may have signed a sales contract, and even though you haven’t signed a loan application, the dealer may try to hold you to it. He’ll use every trick he knows to not lose the deal. You don’t have three days to back out, but if you don’t sign loan papers, the dealer doesn’t get paid for the car and there’s nothing he can do — except make you miserable.
No state has a 3 day right of recision. You probably are stuck. The only way out is if you absolutely refuse to sign anything else…it sounds like they signed you on a “one pay” contract, and it won’t really hold water. Just get them to fix the bugs, make your payments on time, and be more careful next time. Good luck.
