Does upgrading from XP to Vista cost anything?
Systems purchased in the last year that have Vista stickers on the computer case do not cost anything to upgrade. End-users are entitled to one operating system on their computers. We are able, through our licensing agreement with Microsoft, to ‘downgrade’ computers from Vista to XP free of charge, or ‘upgrade’ the same computers back to Vista. However, dual-booting (keeping both XP and Vista) is not allowed under this agreement. Therefore, computers can run only 1 copy of Vista or XP from the license that ships with the machine. Those wishing to investigate any other scenarios, such as installing Vista on machines older than one year, are encouraged to discuss this with their Level 1. Machines upgraded that did not ship with a Vista license will need to have the software purchased. Contact ITSorder for more information on software pricing.
