Union Pacific has repurchased 47 million shares (post-May 2008 stock split) under this authority from January 2007 through December 31, 2008. Timing and volume of further share repurchases will be at the discretion of management. Any share repurchase under this program may be made in the open market, or otherwise.
Yes. Union Pacific is currently authorized to purchase up to 40 million common shares (post-May 2008 stock split) by March 31, 2014 under a new program effective April 1, 2011. This new program replaces the prior authorization that expired March 31, 2011, under which Union Pacific repurchased 66.7 million shares (post-May 2008 stock split) from January 2007 through the expiration date. Timing and volume of further share repurchases will be at the discretion of management. Any share repurchase under this program may be made in the open market, or otherwise.
