Does UL only test electrical products?
UL is concerned with the safety aspect of all potentially hazardous products. UL’s testing and certification services involve a wide variety of product categories, including marine products and life saving devices, fire suppression, fire containment, fire growth and control equipment as well as analysis of chemical vapors and industrial, mechanical and automotive equipment. We test for casualty hazards as well as products to protect against theft or fire and the proper installation of this equipment. Heating, air conditioning and refrigeration products are also tested. In addition, UL registers firms to international quality system standards, such as the ISO 9000 Series of Standards.
