This is the second year for the application tracking system on our StudentLink Web site (at www.studentlink.ucsd.edu). Our applicants are able to check the status of their application from mid-January to the point of checking their admission status in mid-March. They can see if we’re still reviewing the application and whether they were admitted or not. They can also see if their test scores are online. In addition, we’ve created a mechanism for transfer students to submit their work-in-progress form. A new feature added this year is that students who applied for financial aid or scholarships can check online to see their preliminary award or whether they are scholarship recipients. This eliminates a lot of “snail mail.” Given the tremendous number of applications UCSD receives, we must use technology to streamline the process, and to keep up with the students, who are heavy users of technology.
