Does Trefis have access to non-public company information?
No. The Trefis analysis is based on publicly available company information from financial reports, press releases, company presentations and other materials. Additionally, we use public information from third-parties such as news providers, market researchers, bloggers and product experts. Our forecasts are based on our own analysis of the publicly available information that we gather. Trefis does not have any non-disclosure agreements with the companies that it covers. This is also the case with Wall Street equity research and hedge fund analysts who rely on publicly available information. The SEC’s Regulation Fair Disclosure (Reg FD) mandates that publicly traded companies disclose material information to all investors at the same time.
