Does training differ based on the type of hospice care? Does it differ for the various roles of hospice providers?
All volunteers and certified staff are required to go through specialized training programs. This is made to ensure the competence, safety and quality of the service that hospice care programs, whether in the home or a residential hospice, can provide. Unfortunately because of lack of programs and funding, the quality and training of hospice caregivers today varies. Hospice volunteers must go through the training described above, and there are college courses that offer programs in palliative/hospice care for those wanting to become a certified hospice/palliative care provider.
