Does Traditional Witchcraft make use of magickal names?

This, again, depends on the tradition, but mostly – no, traditional witches do not use magickal names. Personally, I have taken on a name that I strictly use in magic because it makes me relax and get “into the mood” if you will, while trying to step away from the stress of a mundane and hectic everyday life. When I use it, it helps me awake a certain state of being that I need to work magick (like meditation, astral projection or spellwork). So, I suppose the whole name thing depends on personal choice. Some Witches may disagree with me, but I say, use whatever works to make you feel the way you want to. If a name helps, by all means, use it. Nature knows who you are, it doesn’t need a name. So, really–it’s only there to help you.
