Yes, tourism certainly plays a vital role in the economic development of Kenya. Kenya is well known for its safari adventure and along with the exotic scenery, beautiful beaches and facilities for sporting adventures; it is making Kenya one of the favourite destinations of tourists. The government is also providing facilities to make it more organized sector with infrastructural developments like hotel facilities. Today the country is receiving approximately 1 million tourists per annum which was as low as 70,000 at the time when Kenya got its independence. Tourism is now a major foreign exchange earning sector and is providing employment to approximately half a million people including 138,000 with direct employment. Tourism also is playing a vital role in the overall development of the country by exposing people to the different cultures to learn from them and emulate their good habits.
