Does Thurso have the biggest waves in Scotland?
Thurso does have the biggest waves in Scotland pretty much. The whole set up of Thurso East is just a perfect big wave spot. It s a deep, shelven reef in a deep bay, facing any variety of swell from the west, round to the north will hit it and on certain days it ll just go off. Do you use a special type of board for surfing bigger waves? Do you use foot straps? No, that s toe-in surfing and I m not even interested in that mate. I think that it s really impressive, but I can t stand wet bikes and jet skis and motor boats and all that crap. When they re all flying around, the whole place just stinks of diesel and so I m not into that whole thing at all.
