Does this mean that before the creation of JTF CapMed there wasn’t anyone responsible for efficient and effective delivery of medical care?
A. Prior to JTF CapMed, there was not a single commander in this area of operations responsible for the integration, effective, and efficient delivery of healthcare. The Army, Navy and Air Force Regional medical commanders were responsible for efficient and effective delivery of healthcare within their respective Service. Authorities given JTF CapMed provide the ability to oversee, manage, and direct all healthcare delivery in the JOA, as well as oversee, manage and distribute resources as necessary to meet the demands of the eligible beneficiary population. This will allow for greater flexibility and integration in the provision of healthcare services from a regional perspective.
