Whether you were charged with domestic abuse or not, answer any questions regarding assault et c., honestly. In Ohio, it would have been charged as Domestic Abuse. It is not necessarily going to disqualify you, it depends on department hiring standards and can depend on the classification of the charge, as well. My advice would be to call the recruiter for the department you are interested in, most of them are very helpful, and tell that officer the exact charge and situation. He/She will let you know if it disqualifies you, but don’t give up if your department of interest disqualifies you, as I said every dept has different hiring standards. Hope this helps.
