The Xbox 360 Arcade does not require a memory card; however, it only comes with 256MB of internal storage space. That is only sufficient for holding a few game saves or demos.

Current retail Arcade consoles come with a 512MB memory build into the console so it does not need a memory card, though it does have the front slots. If you want to take your data somewhere you will need a memory card as the Arcade memory is internal and cannot be removed.
