Does the xbox 360 arcade system have the red ring problem?
ALL 360s, regardless of model, weigh in with a 16% failure rate (that’s 4 out of every 25, if you can’t do the math yourself). Supposedly, the newer “Jasper” 360s have a few features that may reduce that failure rate (smaller GPU die size, improved motherboard layout, a 150W power supply instead of the 175W PS found in older 360s), but they’re so new that their failure rates haven’t been closely examined yet. If you buy a brand new 360 today, odds are it will have a “Jasper” motherboard.
Your best bet, and I’m sure people will argue, but I know from experience… Get whatever system you want, but DON”T set it vertically. Lay it down flat like a traditional system. When they’re standing up they’re many times more likely to have an incident where they either ruin a disc or they stop functioning and go red-light. I had my first 360 do this, and my cousin’s 360 did this twice (red ring) I keep my new one horizontal and it has not frozen up or anything. Also, get a good fan system for it (cooling system you can put on the back of the system, not one you have to use while it’s standing up).
