Does the Wii play DVD or Blu-Ray discs?”

The Wii only plays Wii and Gamecube games. If you try to put any other discs in there, such as CDs, DVDs, or Blu-Ray Discs, (and trust me, I’ve tried) it will just not load on the Wii menu. The reason why the PS3 plays Blu-Ray Discs is the PS3 is made by Sony, and so are Blu-Ray Discs. That’s also why the XBOX 360 can play HD DVDs (with an optional HD DVD add-on). The Wii does use SD cards for memory though, so you can put pictures on your SD card, pop it in the Wii, go to the Photo Channel, and view and do things to your pictures. When Nintendo made the Wii (and all their other game systems, apparently), they were focusing on fun and video games, not multimedia entertainment, unlike Sony. Just look at Sony’s PSP, compared to Nintendo’s DS, and Sony’s Playstation 2, compared to Nintendo’s Gamecube. Hope this helps!
