Does the use of ethanol or a mixture of gas and ethanol wear out the engine parts faster?
Considering that ethanol is dryer and alkaline, it can reduce the lubrication of the engine parts due to the elimination of all impurities left by the gasoline; therefore, a premature wear of the parts may occur. However, this problem can be avoided by adding a small percentage of gasoline to ethanol (that would be the use of mixture) or use a high grade engine protectant such as MT-10 in order to lubricate these parts. In addition, it is recommended to follow a preventive and corrective maintenance routine.
