Does the US customs x-ray carry-on baggage coming into the USA?
If you are coming into the US, then your bags would have been screened by the security at the airport from which you departed, and possibly where you made any connections through. The only time US Customs would re-screen an incoming bag is if you declare agricultural items, such as food, plants, etc., and then they have a special large X-ray machine for that. Unless it is for special reasons as mentioned above, it is security that screens bags, and not customs. When you leave the US, or if you plan on having any flights while in the US, then your bags would be subjected to screening by the US security (TSA).
