Does the underside of the leaf of an orchid plant photosynthesis when exposed in direct sun light?

photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to chemical energy. When the leaf is exposed to light energy it will it will turn carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates. But…. only in cells that contain chlorophyll. It is the inner tissue of the leaf (the mesophyll) that is specialized for photosynthesis. So to answer your question, it’s not the top or bottom part of the leaf where photosynthesis occurs but the inner tissue consisting of parenchyma cells.
