No, Häfele transformers are very energy efficient in that they will turn themselves off when they detect that the lights have been switched off. A lot of transformers on the market continue to operate at 5-10 watts all the time, even when the lights are off. Of course this needlessly burns up power as well as decreases the life of the transformer.
