GPS navigation systems only use the satellite to determine your position. The TomTom ONE XL-S comes preloaded with maps of USA and Canada as well as spoken street names on its 1 GB of internal memory. Updated maps or maps of new locations (Europe) can easily be installed on the device, but they must be downloaded to computer from the TomTom website and installed on the GPS system from your computer.
