Sadly, many Canadians have been brainwashed into thinking they are sovereign and independent from British rule. They falsely believe they have control over their government’s actions, and thus, their own lives. In reality, the only time they can exercise their democratic right is every few years at election time. Other than that, it’s generally the Queen’s Privy Council, or lobbyists for major corporations, or the radical activist minority who have any say in government policy. In reality, it doesn’t matter which political party is voted into power because they all march to the same drummer.
