Does the television show Seinfeld resonate with a British audience?
Seinfeld is a great work of comic genius. It did not do very well in the UK, although that was the fault of the BBC and not the programme. In the US, the third series onwards was shown in prime time slots. It suffered in the UK when it was originally shown, because the BBC bought the rights in an attempt to copy Channel 4, which had bought several US sitcoms, placed them in primetime slots and attracted huge audiences. The BBC was not used to working in this way, and every week would change the time and day that the programme was aired. This made it all but impossible to develop a following, especially as the show was put on later and later at night. For that reason, one of the greatest and most successful and influential sitcoms has barely been seen by anybody in the UK. For those who have not seen it, I would strongly recommend it.
