Does the stenographer stop typing only AFTER the judge has left the courtroom?
At what point does the stenographer stop recording what is said in the courtroom? A serious comment was made by a judge which absolutely proves that we were not fairly allowed to argue our case. The prosecution argued on after the judge first ruled, convincing the judge to change his ruling. He (the judge) continually demanded that our defense attorny be quite while the DA argued on, confusing the entire courtroom. Then afterward the judge said to our attorney: “If that were you… I would have thrown you out of my courtroom!” This was in response to our attorney asking him how he let the DA…(a young pretty blonde DA I might add) rant on but kept making him be quiet! I am wondering whether or not the stenographer would have still been recording. This is absolutely not fair because we were not able to defend ourself and this DA was able to keep stating her opinion as fact! Would this all be on record? A: Usually the judge directs the court reporter when to start and stop transcribing.
