Does the speed of light matter in different mediums like sound?

I can see this has been answered a few times already but all the other answers seem a little confusing Yes light is affected depending on what it is travelling through, the more dense the medium the slower it goes as there is more resistant (this is different to sound which will speed up in denser media as there are more particles to collide and transmit the sound) this is why you can split light into the different colours as each go at a slightly different speed and are affected differently when going through a prism I hope thats a little easier to understand
