Areva offers a large variety of protection relays. The newer MICOM family of relays is available with the MODBUS RTU, IEC-60870-5-103 or DNP3 protocols, all supported by the SMP Gateway. Most other Areva relays use the native Courier protocol over a K-Bus network. To interface these relays a Kitz 202/204 communication protocol converter must be used. However, this device does not support the retrieval of disturbance records. Cooper Power Systems plans to support the native Courier protocol in the near future.
