Does the Silver Tame Fox make for a good pet?
Whether these foxes were captured from the wild, or raised in captivity, they are still wild animals. Those wild traits will always be there, and they can never be considered tame. Even though foxes are small, they are dangerous and can cause severe damage. Like all other animals, wild or tame, they can and will bite if they feel threatened or scared.
It can also be difficult to provide adequate food for these animals. They prefer to catch and kill their own food, and do not like to be fed. They are used to being able to roam free and will not react well to being confined. Being in a cage or pen will often cause them to become even more aggressive and destructive. This kind of behavior will only increase as the fox grows older and larger.
Foxes are known to carry parasites and are one of the most common animals to contract rabies. They should never be kept near children, and should not be in a home environment at all. Raising these animals should be left to professionals. Better yet, they should remain in their wild homes, where they belong.
