Does the SIBT (Sydney Institute of Business and Technology) entry route speed up an actuarial degree?

No. It does the opposite. The recommended program for the first year of an actuarial degree includes the units ACST151, ACST211, STAT171, MATH132 and MATH133. SIBT does not offer any of these units, so entering via SIBT will extend the length of your degree. Historical evidence suggests that only about 2 in 5 students entering the actuarial program from SIBT will manage to complete an actuarial degree and very few will attain the required grades to earn exemption from all the professional exams. Hence we do not recommend the use of the SIBT route to gain entry to the actuarial program.
