David Lamphere ANSWER: SERIES 13 OIL PUMP Hi David – The Series 13 utilizes the pulse oiling system that Franklin pioneered in 1912. These pumps can develop extremely high pressure to each lead if a lead is blocked. For example, disconnecting the lead to the oil filter and applying it directly to a gauge line can put a strain on the pump. An oil pressure gauge that is connected to any line with a ‘T’ connection will also tend to ready fairly high pressures when cold. Normally, the line running to the oil filter will not develop much pressure due to the non-restricted flow through the filter. Measuring pressure in one lead will not indicate pump performance in another lead. This is why Franklin did not use oil pressure gauges with these pumps, but rather a simple oil pressure On-Off indicator. I cannot help on a manifold. I have a good cast iron welder if you decide to repair it. Tom Rasmussen Thanks for the explanation Tom. I have a 9B with the multiple lead system but I didn t realize
