Does the SDRC have a fixed or flexible view of Recovery?

0

The SDRC will focus exclusively on Recovery and Recovery focussed objectives of the ‘Road to Recovery’ national drugs strategy. The SDRC will promote ‘Recovery’ in its widest sense and will not favour or promote one Recovery approach over another. Recovery is a person-centred approach and process through which an individual is empowered to move on from their problem drug use towards a drug-free life as an active and contributing member of society. The SDRC aims to build a better quality of life for people in Recovery, their families and their communities. Developments in Recovery will be drawn from a variety of sources, including learning and emerging evidence from other countries. The SDRC will not limit its focus to Scotland but will be mindful that Recovery should relate to the context and culture of drug problems and addiction in Scotland.
