Does the scarcity of land create a problem?
There is an apparent scarcity of land. There is land, but it is not available for development. In Mumbai, many high-rise buildings are not allowed, citing some frivolous reasons. Mumbai, being an island city, its density is high so there should be more of high-rise buildings. The city needs a structural change. At present, there are 13 different bodies for managing the metro, and there is not enough co-ordination among them. Similarly, more farmlands come up for review. Those who want to exit farming can come and join the realty sector. Fundamentally, land ceiling and bad planning have choked the supply of land.
