ADMIRAL BARRIE: I don’t think it makes particular issue of deficiencies but a major initiative in this report is the establishment of what I think is called case management system. You will recall one of the issues we’ve been grappling with is timeliness in dealing with issues and I think we have to take a leaf out of the civilian court system and put our own case management system in place and that’s very much covered in Mr Burchett’s report. QUESTION: Will the Inspector-General be a civilian or a military person? ADMIRAL BARRIE: Oh I think that’s hard to say. You can clearly see cases one way or the other. I think what’s in my mind is to pretty soon on seek expressions of interest from people who’d be prepared to serve in that capacity and then set about making the right sort of choice. You see there might be retired military officers with experience who could perform this role that I do
