roof bars decrease fuel efficiency thus increase consuption as they produce drag. spoilers also increase fuel consumption as they also produce drag – spoilers are designed to ‘catch’ the air and force the back end of the car into the road increasing the grip, they are in no way a fuel saver, they actually cost fuel!
