Since the period of residence only includes legal and actual residence in Finland (not merely being registered in Finland), the period for which you reside abroad will not be included in your period of residence, even if you are working abroad for a Finnish employer. If you reside abroad for a period not exceeding one year, this period will not be included in your period of residence, nor will it interrupt your continuous period of residence. For example, if you have moved abroad for a period of eleven months during your period of residence in Finland, this period will not be included in your period of residence. If you reside abroad for a period exceeding one year, your continuous period of residence will be interrupted.
